Roseanna visits Famous Grouse Experience

Roseanna recently visited The Famous Grouse Experience where she met with the Stuart Cassells, Manager of the Centre, to talk about their plans for 2015.  These include an exciting campaign centred on the Glenturret Malt Whisky and in the autumn, the publication of a history of the distillery.  She also viewed the largest bottle of whisky in the world.

Speaking following her visit, Ms Cunningham said:

“It is always interesting and enjoyable to visit The Famous Grouse Experience and on this occasion, not only did I see the biggest bottle of whisky in the world but I was able to take the opportunity to congratulate the team for their recent success in winning the Scottish title for Best Visitor Attraction in the ‘Whisky Magazine’ Icons of Whisky Awards.  I wish them all the best as they go on to be considered for the global prize.

“Looking forward, they have some really interesting plans for the coming year to build on their success so far and I am really looking forward to the publication of a history of the distillery which is due to be published in the autumn.

“With 2015 having been designated the Year of Food and Drink it is important to recognise just how much the whisky industry means to the economy, nationally and locally.

Scotch whisky is worth more than £5 billion to the UK economy.  Nearly 11,000 people are directly employed by distillers across Scotland and they also support a further 30,000 jobs through the supply chain.

“Those numbers make whisky the third biggest industry in Scotland, behind energy and financial services, comprising about 70% of the entire Scottish food and drink sector.  So there can be little doubt that having a magnet attraction like The Famous Grouse Experience here in Strathearn is a massive benefit to the local economy as a whole.”
