Roseanna meets the team at Positive Choices

The Scottish National Party's Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Perthshire South & Kinross-shire, met this weekend with the team at Positive Choices, the new name for DISIP, (Disability Information Service in Perthshire).

The service provides workshops, support and advice for people with disabilities and their carers. Positive Choice's premises in Whitefriar Street opened in November 2012 and have proven to be a popular and valuable service in Perth and Kinross.

Speaking after the visit, Ms Cunningham said:

"Support services like Positive Choices are vital to many in Scottish society and are supporting the Scottish Government's goals of having a human rights approach to health and social care.

"I was very impressed with the staff, who are committed to providing such an important service to many vulnerable folk in Perth and Kinross. I also got the chance to meet some service users, whose enthusiasm for the service was obvious.

"I was concerned to hear that many of the people getting in touch with Positive Choices are those who have been or are worried that they will be affected by the recent and upcoming welfare reforms which are being imposed on Scotland from the coalition government at Westminster.

"The welfare reforms are hitting the most vulnerable people in Scotland the hardest and with the difficult winter months soon approaching I would urge all my constituents who are concerned about the changes to seek advice as soon as they can."
