Praise for local success at Beautiful Scotland Awards

The Scottish National Party's Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Perthshire South & Kinross-shire has congratulated those communities in her constituency who were successful in the 2013 Beautiful Scotland Awards.

"Perthshire communitites continue to perform brilliantly in these competitions, a true testament to the talent and commitment of everyone involved, in particular those volunteers who give so unstintingly of their time and effort to keep the silverware rolling in.

"I am delighted that Beautiful Perth picked up The Rosebowl, the premier award, albeit that it was shared after a joint decision with three other competitors, including Pitlochry. They also picked up the Large Town Trophy, the Sustainability Award and a Gold Medal.

"Meanwhile, Muthill in Bloom were awarded the Small Village Trophy and a Gold Medal, Comrie in Colour scooped the Community Horticultural Award and a Gold Medal and Crieffl in Leaf got themselves a Silver Medal.

"These competitions are not just, of course, about winning titles but about making our cities, towns and villages more attractive places to stay and visit. All the groups from around the country who take part deserve a big pat on the back for all their hard work."
