Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP has welcomed an announcement from the Scottish Government which not only provides funding of £1 million for childminders who have been financially impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, but also sets out a vision for the future development of the sector.

Roseanna said:

“I very much welcome this announcement by the Scottish Government of an additional million-pound package of support for the childminding sector.  But, possibly even more important, this announcement also looks to the future with the publication of a new Childminding Action Plan.

“That plan lays out an exciting vision for the future of the sector and the actions that the Scottish Government is taking to support it, both now and on an ongoing basis.

“The availability of a flexible and well supported childminding sector is extremely important in supporting families and the development of our young people and I am sure that this news will be warmly welcomed by childminders and parents in my constituency."
