Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP has been informed by the Post Office that the Forgandenny Post Office will be closing temporarily from Saturday 27 June 2020.

Commenting on the closure, Ms Cunningham said:

“I understand that the closure of Forgandenny Post Office follows the resignation of the postmaster and the consequent withdrawal of the current premises for Post Office use.

“The Post Office are currently investigating the options available to them for reinstating service to the local community, whether that is through a new Post Office in new premises, a ‘local-style’ branch within another existing retail premises, or an ‘outreach’ service from another branch.

“A local post office is so important to the life of a village and it is always worrying when there is a threat to that service, so I hope that this will indeed only be a temporary suspension of Post Office services in Forgandenny.  I would urge anyone locally who might be interested in providing post office services to contact the Post Office as soon as possible.”
