Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP has congratulated a local project on receiving recognition at last week’s sportscotland Coaching, Officiating and Volunteering Awards 2019. ‘Care About Walking’ received the Coaching For An Active Life Award.

Expressing her congratulations, Ms Cunningham said:

“I was delighted to learn that the Care About Walking project, created and run by Paths for All in partnership with the Perth & Kinross Health & Social Care Partnership, has won the sportscotland Coaching for an Active Life Award.

“Care About Walking gives people living in care homes in my constituency increased opportunities to be active every day. As well as the more obvious physical benefits, increased walking also brings the mental and social health benefits of inclusion as older people who are more active and more mobile are also more likely to participate in other activities.

“The project was first introduced in Parkdale Care Home in Auchterader and has since expanded to include other care homes in Perth & Kinross.

“It really is a brilliant project, I congratulate everyone involved in achieving this well-deserved recognition and wish them every success for the future.”
