Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP has welcomed the news that ownership of the former Drummond Arms Hotel has now been transferred to Crieff Community Trust.

Ms Cunningham said:

“I am absolutely delighted to have received confirmation from Crieff Community Trust that they have successfully secured ownership of the former Drummond Arms Hotel.

“This is the culmination of a huge amount of effort over a long time, overcoming many complications, and I look forward with great anticipation to the next chapter for this historic building right in the heart of our town.

“The building has become an eyesore and a public danger, something that is of real concern to me, both as an elected representative and as someone who lives nearby.

“After years of neglect by the previous owners, there is a lot of work to be done, but I am really pleased to learn that initial emergency safety precautions will be carried out on Monday with scaffolding going up and work commencing on a programme of work that is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

“That, of course, is just the beginning for the renewal of this old building.  For generations, the Drummond Arms played host to weddings and parties, community events and political meetings.  Even now, after lying uncared for over a number of years, it still has a place in peoples’ hearts and I look forward eagerly to seeing it come back to life, playing a part at the heart of the community once more.”
