Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP has welcomed news that Perth & Council is to receive £1,983,000 as its funding allocation from the Scottish Government’s £50 million Town Centre Fund.

Announced by SNP Finance Secretary Derek Mackay during his budget statement, the new fund aims to drive local economic growth by helping town centres fund projects such as re-purposing buildings for retail, business and community enterprise, while improving access and infrastructure.

Ms Cunningham said:

“It is great news that Perth & Kinross Council are to receive an allocation of almost two million pounds from the Scottish Government’s £50 million Town Centre Fund.

“This Fund, which was announced by Derek Mackay during his budget statement, will be a really useful boost to local economies and I look forward to hearing from Perth & Kinross Council how they intend to allocate these funds throughout the Council area.

“Once again, we see the Scottish Government providing funds aimed at helping town centres and local businesses and I very much hope that the Council will reach out to local communities to see what plans they have within their own towns that could be supported from these funds.”
