Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP has welcomed the First Minister's announcement giving details of the additional £50 million being invested by the Scottish Government in the Tay Cities Region to support manufacturing businesses and the delivery of the Cross-Tay Link Road.

She said:

”I am really pleased that £40 million of this additional money for the Tay Cities Region will support the Cross-Tay Link Road, an extremely important project which will benefit the whole of Perthshire and which will have a particular benefit in reducing traffic congestion in Perth and thereby helping to address some very long standing air quality issues in city centre streets.

“I am also pleased that the remaining £10 million will be used to fund an industrial investment programme which will support manufacturing businesses across the region.

“These funds come on top of the £150 million already committed by the Scottish Government to the Tay Cities Region Deal and means that the Scottish Government are investing a total of £200 million in the Deal.

“It is disappointing, however, that the UK Government were not prepared to match the Scottish Government’s contribution and it is laughable to see a local Tory MP claiming to have put pressure on the Scottish Government when he couldn’t squeeze as much as one brown penny extra out of his own colleagues in Westminster.”
