Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP has welcomed the news from Edrington that the sale of Glenturret Distillery and the Glenturret brand has been agreed with all jobs protected in the agreement.

Ms Cunningham said:

"There was understandable concern when Edrington first announced their intention to sell Glenturret but there was also the sense that this was an excellent business that would have no difficulty in finding an eager buyer.

"I am pleased that the time of uncertainty is over with the announcement of a sale agreement and I am particularly pleased that all the jobs at Glenturret have been safeguarded.  That really is a nice Christmas present for everyone affected.

"There has not been any mention of changes to employees’ terms and conditions but I will be seeking further assurances from the new owners in that regard.

"Glenturret is a fantastic brand with a great story and a unique selling point both in terms of the Distillery as a visitor attraction and the excellent whisky it produces.

"The new owners' background is at the quality end of the wine market so their approach to the business should be a good fit for Glenturret, a craft malt whisky.

"I look forward to hearing further from the new owners about their plans for both the distillery and the Glenturret brand."
