Bellwin Scheme Activation Welcomed

The Scottish National Party’s Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Perthshire South & Kinross-shire, and Ms Annabelle Ewing MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Mid Scotland & Fife, have welcomed confirmation from the Scottish Government that Bellwin Scheme funding has been activated to assist Perth & Kinross Council carry out the works that have been identified as necessary to protect the village of Comrie from former flooding.

Speaking this afternoon (Thursday) Ms Cunningham, Comrie’s constituency MSP, said:

“I am delighted that the Bellwin Scheme funding has been activated and I hope that work can start as soon as possible.

 “The people of Comrie have been through a great deal and I hope that this news wil bring them some of the reassurance they sorely need.”

Ms Ewing, a Comrie resident, added:

“Releasing this funding means that the work that has been identified as being needing done can be brought forward.  I know that is news that will be very warmly welcomed in Comrie.

 “The local community has really rallied round at this time of need  but this is the kind of positive news we have all been waiting for.”
