Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP has welcomed the appointment of Grant Archibald as the new Chief Executive of NHS Tayside.

Ms Cunningham said:

“I am pleased to hear that an appointment has been made for the post of Chief Executive of NHS Tayside.  This is a big job with some real challenges ahead.  I congratulate Grant Archibald on his appointment and wish him every success in the role.

“There is no doubt that Mr Archibald seems well suited for the position.  He comes from a senior position at Greater Glasgow and Clyde where he had responsibility for some major projects, such as the new Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

“Not only that, but it can be fairly said that he knows the Health Service – and NHS Tayside in particular – from every level, having worked at Ninewells as a porter and a Graduate Trainee before gaining senior management experience at three of Scotland’s largest health boards.

“Grant Archibald's predecessor, Malcolm Wright, took the reins at Tayside at a very difficult time and he now is taking over as interim Chief Executive of NHS Scotland and Director General of Health and Social Care for the Scottish Government.  I want to thank him for the work he has done in Tayside and wish him all the very best in his new role.”
