Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP has welcomed the news that young people across Scotland are being given the opportunity to create the design that will decorate the next generation of baby boxes.

Encouraging young people from her constituency to get involved, Ms Cunningham said:

“The Baby Box has been a great success since it was launched one year ago with over 50,000 sent out to newborns all over Scotland.  What a fantastic opportunity that represents for a young artist or designer to showcase their abilities.

“I am delighted, therefore, that, in partnership with the Scottish Government and Children in Scotland, Young Scot are heading up the search for young people to create the design that will decorate the next generation of Baby Boxes. I would encourage young people in Perthshire South & Kinross-shire to get involved.

“It is very appropriate that this opportunity should be given in 2018, the Year of Young People, and the design brief is that the concept should relate to the theme of Children’s Rights under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child – the Right to Play, the Right to Freedom of Expression and the Right to Education.“

NOTE : Successful designers will be invited to a Jam Event in October where they will work in teams with professional design agencies to bring their ideas together into a final design concept.

The winning design will be selected by an expert judging panel later in the year before launching in 2019.
