Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP has welcomed the news that a Scottish Government loan scheme to help with home energy efficiency which was being piloted in three local authority areas, including Perth & Kinross, has been expanded and extended until 31 March 2019.

Ms Cunningham said:

“The Home Energy Efficiency Programme Scotland (HEEPS) enables home owners on low incomes to borrow up to £40,000 for improvements to the energy efficiency of their homes, with the loan being repaid when the property is sold.

“This scheme was being piloted in Perth & Kinross and I am really pleased to learn that not only has it now been expanded to include five more local authority areas, it has also been extended until the end of March 2019.

“Hopefully this means that more of my constituents will be able to access help in carrying out improvements that will tackle heat loss – leading to warmer homes and lower fuel bills – that would have been out of their financial reach without this assistance.

“Information on eligibility for the scheme and assistance with the application process can be obtained from expert advisors at Home Energy Scotland.”
