Following the announcement by Perth and Kinross Council that Bernadette Malone has announced her intention to retire from the post of Chief Executive at the beginning of July, Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP paid tribute to Ms Malone’s contribution.

She said:

“Bernadette Malone has been at the helm of Perth & Kinross Council for the last decade and a half and in that time has overseen many changes, playing a key role in some major achievements along the way, not least securing the reinstatement of Perth’s city status in 2012.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Bernadette on behalf of my constituents and in her role as returning officer at elections I have been pleased and relieved to hear her announce my re-election on three successive occasions!

“Bernadette has also been a pioneer and trail blazer for women in the higher echelons of local government administration, one of the first women to be appointed to the position of Chief Executive of a Scottish local authority.

“I want to thank Bernadette for her commitment, dedication and service to the people and communities of Perth and Kinross and to wish her all the very best for whatever the future holds following her retirement.”
