Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP visited Remake in Crieff in her constituency where she highlighted the importance of recycling and congratulated the company on securing funding for a number of recent projects.

Roseanna with Fiona Gilbert some of the donated itemsSpeaking following the visit, Ms Cunningham said:

“The New Year is a great time to have a bit of a clear out so I was pleased to be able to take the opportunity to pay a visit to Remake Scotland in Crieff.  Remake is a charity encouraging people to be creative in the way in which they recycle and re-use objects and materials that might otherwise be thrown away.

“I am really pleased that we have such a fantastic place here in Crieff and I always love the opportunity to pop in and find out more about some of the projects they are involved in.

“For example, ReStore Crieff is a supportive and informal wellbeing pilot running weekly at Remake involving fun and informal sessions covering workplace training, community enterprise, upcycling sessions & social nutritional lunches for a wide range of ages, abilities and backgrounds and who are at risk of social or emotional isolation and income deprivation. This has been funded by the NHS Community Innovation Fund for 1 year

“The Remake Futures Project due for launch in April is a 3 year plan to offer focussed and targeted opportunities to vulnerable & disadvantaged young adults in Crieff by offering skills and workplace training, external qualifications and enterprise support for 16-25yrs including those enrolled on the LOGOS Youth Project Linc (Linking Into New Careers) programme.”

Ms Fiona Gilbert (above), Founder and Creative Development Manager of Remake Scotland, added:

“Remake is about making great stuff from old stuff, about making new friends and learning new skills, about trying different things and knowing that whatever you make or build or create might not turn out as expected but diving in anyway because it might turn out better!

“Our Scrapstore provides community groups and individuals with cheap and alternative art and craft supplies and is home to low-cost, varied and abundant scrap materials including clean surplus resources collected from business and industry.

“Meanwhile, the creative Remake Challenge Champions outreach team is passionate about enabling creativity and helping children & young adults turn potential landfill into new objects of desire. We specialise in art, craft and construction workshops finding new uses for reclaimed, scrounged and found objects while encouraging everyone to use tools with confidence.

“We are always delighted to have Roseanna visit and welcome her support for the work that we do.”
