Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP has been in contact with the Post Office to clarify the position regarding the status of the Post Office on Crieff High Street.

Ms Cunningham said:
“Concerned by reports that following a long period of temporary closure, the Post Office on Crieff High Street had now been listed as permanently closed, I contacted the External Affairs Manager of Post Office Ltd to seek clarification of the situation.
“I have been assured that while the Post Office will not continue on the current site or with the current operators, it is viewed by them as being temporarily closed for operational reasons, until a new operator and premises are found.
“Post Office Ltd inform me that not only would the post office in Crieff would not close permanently without prior consultation, it is their aim to maintain a Post Office in Crieff, and they have been working to find a solution that will enable a service to be restored in the area.
“As a result, Post Office Ltd are now advertising the opportunity for a local retailer interested in running the Post Office service as part of either an existing or new business.
“Anyone who wishes to register an interest should visit the Post Office website where they will find all the information they need. I note that the closing date for expressions of interest is the 13th of October 2018, although that timescale will be shortened should sufficient early interest be shown.  I sincerely hope that there will be a lot of interest in running this important local facility.”
