The Scottish National Party’s Ms Roseanna Cunningham, SNP candidate for Perthshire South & Kinross-shire, was delighted to pay a visit to a very recent addition to the food and drink sector within the constituency.  The Strathearn Cheese Company have only been up and running since March and have just launched their second product line.

Speaking after her visit, Ms Cunningham said:

“Many thanks to Pierre and Drew for showing me round their creamery.  This really is a very interesting venture and I wish them every success.  There have been many cheesy photocalls from politicians of all parties during this election campaign but I think this is the best yet!

“Food and Drink is a burgeoning part of the Scottish economy and it is a very important sector locally here in Strathearn.

“Through the Scottish Government’s support for the food and drink sector, we have reached the Food & Drink Growth Sector Turnover target 6 years early.  We look forward to building on this success and continuing to implement the Scotland Food and Drink Export Plan and we will bring forward a Good Food Nation Bill to draw together all aspects of the Scottish Government’s work on food and drink.

“The Strathearn Cheese Company has only been operational since March and they are now producing two delicious cheeses with The Strathearn having joined the Lady Mary on their product list just this weekend.

”Pierre and Drew are using local milk and local flavours such as whisky in The Strathearn and wild Garlic in the Lady Mary.  The cheeses are on sale in Hansen's Kitchen in Comrie and Gill's in Crieff.

“The Strathearn Cheese Company is one of a number of fantastic small local businesses based in the Nissen huts at the former Cultybraggan army camp, a great base for any small start-up and an important part of the development of that site by the Comrie Development Trust.”
