Ms Roseanna Cunningham, SNP Candidate for Perthshire South & Kinross-shire, paid a visit to Rosemary House, Inveralmond Road, Perth, the Head of Office of local business McLeod Glaziers.

Speaking after her visit, Ms Cunningham said:

“McLeod Glaziers is one of the oldest glazing contractors in Scotland.  A family firm, founded and still based in Perth, it is a business which has grown over the years and kept pace with the changing business and technological environment.

“It was a very useful and interesting visit and I am grateful to everyone at McLeod’s who gave up their time to talk to us and show us round.

“The foundations of Scotland’s economy are strong – but there’s much more we want to do. We can deliver more and better paid jobs, share the fruits of success amongst our citizens more equally, and create stronger, more sustainable growth.

“At the heart of the economic agenda of a re-elected SNP government will be a focus on transforming our productivity as a country. Innovation is key to achieving this ambition and, coupled with our efforts to boost entrepreneurship, will drive our approach to strengthening the economy.

“The SNP will bring forward a jobs plan within our first 100 days in office.  Over the next parliament, we will focus firmly on the four key pillars of our economic strategy – maximising investment in infrastructure and skills, driving innovation, boosting exports and promoting more inclusive growth.
“We want everyone in Scotland to have the opportunity to find work – but we also want to improve the quality of work, drive up pay where wages are low and ensure that our workforce have the right skills for the jobs of the future.
“We will double the number of Living Wage employers by autumn 2017, use new powers to help unemployed young people into work and take action to tackle the gender pay gap.
“And we will offer a serious package of support for Scottish businesses – helping employers to thrive and to take on staff.”
