Roseanna has welcomed the news that the sports block at the Community School of Auchterarder has re-opened after a period of closure as a precautionary measure to allow a structural investigation and initial remedial works to be carried out.  She said:

“The Council was right to take the steps it did to ensure that the structure was absolutely safe.  Particularly in light of the awful incident that occurred at a school in Edinburgh it was important to take a precautionary approach and to demonstrate that pupil safety was paramount.

“Nevertheless, I am sure that everyone associated with the school is delighted that the sports block is now back in use.  Sport and fitness is, I know, an important part of school life and ethos at the Community School of Auchterarder and it will have been a real inconvenience to have been without an important indoor facility, particularly during the winter months.

“It doesn’t seem to have held back the sporting exploits of the school, however, and I would like to congratulate the Under 15 girls’ rugby team who qualified for the final for the Brewin Dolphin Scottish Cup with a win over their opponents in Glasgow at the weekend.”
