Roseanna urges participation in flooding consultation

Roseanna is encouraging local individuals and businesses to participate in a consultation on the most comprehensive assessment of flood risk ever compiled in Scotland.

She said:

“The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency and a number of local authorities, including Perth & Kinross Council, are carrying out a joint consultation exercise to help shape the future of flood risk management in Scotland.

“I am very aware that here are a number of communities in my constituency who have experienced flooding in recent years and this consultation process would benefit from hearing their experiences.

“The stated goal of the consultation is to move away from simply reacting to floods when they happen, and towards investing and preparing in advance. Their intention is that doing so will reduce both the distress and economic impact caused by flooding.

“I am sure that is an ambition that will be welcomed by my constituents and this really is an excellent opportunity to have a positive influence on the way in which flood risk is managed on the future.

“The consultation is open for comment until Tuesday the 2nd of June 2 and more information can be found online.”
