New Rules for Personal Data from 25th May 2018

Roseanna Cunningham MSP

The UK General Data Protection Regulation (the GDPR) and the UK Data Protection Act 2018 (the DPA).

You have new rights over your personal data. Here's what I do. I have always protected your information and used what you have given me as your MSP only in ways that I have agreed with you. I copy you in to correspondence that I send to others so that you can see what my staff and I are doing with it.

I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration code Z1033356.

You can inspect my registration at any time and get advice on data from their web site at https://ico.org.uk/ . There is a button on their page to allow searches of the register.

You have always had the legal right to know what information we hold about you and how we use it but the new rules strengthen these rights. You now can request, subject to some exclusions, that we erase some or all the personal information we hold about you. And that applies to paper, computer or any way we hold your information.

My website at www.roseannacunningham.com documents my activity as an MSP. I use cookies on my web site.  Cookies are very small text files that are stored on your computer when you visit websites. My website uses essential technical cookies to track your session, and by using the website you are deemed to have consented to accepting these cookies. This type of cookie expires at the end of the session when your browser is closed.

I am happy to receive advice of errors or material omissions which could amount to an error.  Errors in, or requests related to, personal data will be dealt with as quickly as practical.

Nothing here is intended to be legal advice. If you are unsure of your legal rights in connection with any matter you should obtain independent legal advice.
