Warm Homes Funding Welcomed

Roseanna has welcomed news from the Scottish Government that Perth & Kinross Council is to benefit from funding of well over a million pounds to make local homes warmer.

Councils across Scotland have been allocated a share of £60 million to make homes warmer and cheaper to heat and Perth & Kinross Council will receive £1,339,205.

The Scottish Government’s investment in the Home Energy Efficiency Programme for Scotland next year gives every council cash to help fuel poor and vulnerable households with energy efficiency improvements such as solid wall, cavity and loft insulation.

Roseanna said:

“I am delighted that this investment by the Scottish Government will mean well over £1 million to help households in Perth & Kinross stay warm and cut energy bills.

“The Scottish Government can’t control fuel prices but are investing in energy efficiency for homes.  Over £300 million has been invested since 2009 to make fuel poor homes more energy efficient, and over this year and the next we will see an additional £94 million towards improving energy efficiency.

“Around one in three Scottish households, over 700,000, have now benefited from measures like new boilers or insulation.

“With winter well and truly upon us there is help available for everyone, whether or not you qualify for a share of this funding.  Free and impartial advice on how to reduce energy costs is available by contacting Home Energy Scotland on 0808 808 2282 or visiting the website at www.homeenergyscotland.org.”
