Roseanna visits Logos Youth Project

The Scottish National Party’s Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Perthshire South & Kinross-shire, recently visited the Logos Youth Centre in Crieff where she met with staff and some of the young people making use of the centre.

Speaking following her visit Ms Cunningham said:

“One of the main reasons behind this visit was to get a first-hand update on how the Logos Youth Project are making use of the £38,000 grant which was received from the Big Lottery Fund’s “Young Start” programme which has been put to work giving young people the opportunity to take part in the Saltire, Dynamic Youth and Youth Achievement awards.

The Logos Youth Project does great work as a drop in service for young people aged from 11 to 19. It is clearly a very well used facility, very busy over lunchtime while I was there – I understand that around 200 young people use the services each week - and provides a safe space for young people with under-18 disco nights, a café, pool table and games room.

“But it is more than just being a place to hang out, important though that is.  There are various opportunities and support available as well as activity sessions and organised volunteering in the local community.

“I was particularly pleased to learn that, through the Linc Programme which helps school-leavers into work or training, two young people have already graduated from the “Ready 2 Work” programme at Perth College and another has taken up a Modern Apprenticeship.

“It was great to see the happy comfortable atmosphere that the staff of the Logos Youth Project have helped to create and it is also clear that this is a place that is welcomed and has been adopted as their own by the young people of the town.”
