Local MSP Concerned that Vodafone Short Changing Customers in Auchterarder

Roseanna Cunningham MSP, has raised her concerns that constituents in the Auchterarder area are being provided with very poor service from Vodafone.

Speaking today [Thursday], Ms Cunningham said:

“I have been working with constituents and Vodafone over the last week to resolve the issue of lack of service in the Auchterarder area. It appears that there is an issue with the lease on the mast which connects Auchterarder to the rest of the Vodafone network and I understand that Vodafone are attempting to find an alternative site.

“I have been approached by a many constituents affected by the loss of service and one who even offered a site for a new mast!  I passed that information on and I understand it is being investigated by Vodafone and its associated contractors.

“However, I am most concerned that customers in this area are not being given the service they expect from a multinational company such as Vodafone.

“Several of my constituents have contacted me to ask for assistance in removing themselves from the contracts which they have with Vodafone and since many of these constituents rely on their Vodafone mobile phone for business purposes, the lack of service is becoming a serious issue.

“It appears that, at present, Vodafone are unwilling to allow customers to be released from their contracts without having to pay large sums of money, despite the fact that they would not wish to terminate their contracts if Vodafone service had not been wiped out from the area.

“My office is in daily contact with Vodafone at present and I have written again formally urging them to reconsider their stance on customers who want to leave as a result of the lack of service. It is simply not good enough for Vodafone to charge for a service which customers are not receiving and then charge them again for wanting to leave that service!”
