Roseanna hopes Crieff Street Arts Festival will become a regular event

The Scottish National Party's Ms Roseanna Cunnningham MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Perthshire South & Kinross-shire, has praised the organisers and all those involved in the Crieff High Street Art Festival for what she described as a "fantastic event" which she hopes will become a "regular feature in the town's calendar".

Speaking today (Tuesday), Ms Cunningham said:

"I thoroughly enjoyed the Crieff High Street Art Festival, it was great to see so much going on throughout the High Street with everyone really getting into the spirit of things.

"Unusual things in unexpected places appeared to be a bit of a theme and particular favourites of mine were the yarnbombed bike outside An Cnoc and the live shop window mermaid.

"The town really did undergo a bit of a transformation. Local shopkeepers had arts and crafts in their windows and the public spaces attracted the attention of a guerilla army of knitters!

"It was all great fun with locals and weekend visitors alike delighted by it all.

"A huge well done to everybody involved in organising this fantastic event and to all the retailers who really got into the spirit of the thing, I am sure the organisers are very grateful for their assistance in allowing their premises to be used as exhibition space.

A festival of this nature is a wonderful idea for any small town. It was the first such festival in Crieff but I suspect it won't be the last and I hope it will become a regular feature in the town's calendar."
