Roseanna Praises Bird Hide at Comrie Croft

During a recent visit to the Comrie Croft, the Scottish National Party's Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Perthshire South & Kinross-shire, had the delightful experience of viewing Ospreys from the Croft's bird hide on the very day that they returned to Comrie from their winter sojourn in Africa.

Speaking following her visit Roseanna said:

"The folk at Comrie Croft really are doing a fantastic job of ensuring that they do not stand still in terms of what they have on offer to attract visitors.

"The 'Wild Watch at Comrie Croft' project was established last year and as the project unfolds it encompasses a range of developments, including extensive tree-planting.

"The main focus for 2013, however, is an observation hide which looks out on to the osprey nest on Lawers estate, 400 metres to the south. Ospreys have returned to the nest regularly over the last 10 years, and I was absolutely delighted that – in a remarkable piece of good timing - the first osprey to return from Africa this year arrived just as I was observing the nest!

"They really are fascinating birds and I am sure that the hide - which boasts 6 viewing ports, including a disabled bay, 4 high-power scopes, and 8 sets of binoculars – will be a great success.

"With Wild Watch manager, David Watson, who has wildlife writing experience in East Africa and the UK, on hand with explanations and information it really is an interesting an educational experience."
