New figures show that the SNP Government provided support totalling £214,200 to 2,142 families in the Perth & Kinross Council area with the £100 COVID winter hardship payment aimed at supporting them through one of the most difficult winters in living memory.
The payment was made available to families who were in receipt of free school meals and was paid from 30th November to the start of the winter school holidays.
Commenting, Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP said:
“These recently published figures show once again that the Scottish Government is working hard to put cash in the pockets of those who desperately need a bit of extra help in these really hard times.
“With over 2,000 families across the council area having received a £100 COVID winter hardship payment, we know that well over £200,000 has been paid out to people throughout Perth & Kinross, including in my constituency, making a real difference where it matters.
“I know that the financial strain on many people has been incredibly hard with lost earnings, increased food bills and cold weather, and I hope that this payment has gone some way to easing that pressure.”
