Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP recently cut the ribbon to mark the re-opening of a supported accommodation unit in her constituency.
The unit is run by Anchor House, a local charity that also works in the community to help people to sustain their tenancies. The refurbishment was made possible through a partnership with Gleneagles Hotel who wanted to work with a local charity.
Ms Cunningham said:
“It was a privilege to be asked to cut the ribbon to mark the re-opening of Anchor House’s supported accommodation unit as the Gleneagles team handed the keys back to them after refurbishment.
“Anchor House do very important work within the community, helping to address the problems of homelessness, and it is great to see them being supported in this very practical way by a local business.
“Thanks are due to the management and staff of Gleneagles Hotel who wanted to help out a local charity in a practical way. After deciding to offer help to Anchor House, volunteer staff from Gleneagles redecorated the Anchor House property, including fitting a new kitchen and bathroom.
“This event was an opportunity to celebrate the work that has been done, to recognise the benefits that can be brought about by a local business working together with a local charity and to look forward in hope as the newly refurbished property plays its part in helping those affected by homelessness to make a fresh start.”
