CHALLENGE TO RBS OVER CHANGES TO MOBILE BRANCH ROUTES

Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP is to contact the Royal Bank of Scotland to raise a number of issues following publication of new routes for their Perthshire mobile bank.

She said:

"The new times and routes announced by RBS for their Perthshire mobile bank raise a number of issues and concerns for which I am seeking answers.

"With the present route, the mobile bank stops at Dunning and Crieff on Monday and Crieff and Auchterarder on Thursdays. From Monday 14 May, that is to change to a stop in Auchterarder on Tuesdays, Comrie and Crieff on Wednesdays and Kinross and Dunning on Fridays.

"Obviously, there was a need for changes to serve Kinross but the new route sees Crieff's service slashed in half from an hour each on Mondays and Thursday afternoons to just an hour each Wednesday.

"The most puzzling change, however, is the decision to introduce a stop in Comrie just five minutes' walk away from an existing Branch that was given a reprieve following the recent closures announcement.

"That decision will surely corrupt the value of any usage data gathered to determine whether that reprieve can be extended beyond the end of the year and utterly undermines any sense that RBS have not already made their mind up about the future of the Comrie Branch.

"Indeed, the RBS website further confirms that undermining by continuing to list Comrie as one of the Branches set for closure.

"I want these issues addressed and I want to know what efforts were made at customer consultation before these changes were decided."
