CUNNINGHAM WELCOMES CONCESSION OF PUBLIC MEETING FOR KINROSS

Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Perthshire South & Kinross-shire, has welcomed the news that NHS Tayside has agreed to her call for an additional public meeting to be held in Kinross as part of the consultation on “Transforming Surgical Services in Tayside”.

Speaking today (3.10.17), Ms Cunningham said:

“I am pleased that NHS Tayside have agreed to my call for an additional public meeting to be held in Kinross as part of the consultation on the proposals they have entitled “Transforming Surgical Services in Tayside”.

“The suggested cessation of acute emergency surgery would mean my constituents facing an extra 30 minute journey and, since we are talking about acutely ill patients, that is a real cause for concern.  There would be a particular impact on Kinross-shire as the area has no cottage hospital providing beds that would allow recuperation after surgery.

“In pointing this out to NHS Tayside, I made it quite clear that it would be important to have a public meeting in Kinross before the conclusion of the consultation.

“The meeting will be held this coming Monday, 9 October, in Loch Leven Community Centre between 5pm and 7pm.  Because of this additional meeting, the consultation period has been extended until the 9th of October and interested parties now have until then to make any submission they wish to make.”
