Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Perthshire South & Kinross-shire, paid a visit to the Perth & Kinross Credit Union office in Crieff this morning (Thursday 11th August) where she met with their Chair Euan Walker and a number of volunteers.
Speaking after the visit Roseanna said:
“Credit Unions are a fantastic way to save and borrow, they are local, ethical and know what their members want because each credit union has a ‘common bond’ which sets out who can join it. In Perth and Kinross Credit Union’s case, this bond allows anyone who live or works in the Perth and Kinross council area to become a member.
“PKCU is expanding all the time. Since opening their first office in Perth in 2014, two new offices were opened in Blairgowrie and here in Crieff last year. This year has so far seen further expansion to Pitlochry and Kinross.
“I am delighted that there is an office in Crieff. I plan to join and I would urge others to do so too.
“The Credit Union is a not-for-profit organisation, so borrowing rates can be more affordable and loans may be available to people who could not get a bank loan.
“This time of year can be particularly difficult for hard-pressed families with the expenses associated with kids going back to school, so this is an ideal time to highlight the small loan facility that the Credit Union can provide."
